The 2026 glossary
Every term buyers and search engines both look for, defined once and linked everywhere.
- Per-message pricingBilling
- Meta’s model since 1 July 2025: charged per delivered template message by category and recipient country, not per 24-hour conversation.
- Message categoriesBilling
- Marketing, utility and authentication. Marketing is roughly 7.5× the utility rate in India, so category assignment is the biggest cost lever you control.
- Customer service windowBilling
- The 24 hours after a customer messages you, during which you can reply without a template. Replies are free until 1 October 2026; from that date Meta charges each one at the utility rate — ₹0.1150 in India.
- CTWAAcquisition
- Click-to-WhatsApp ads. A click opens a 72-hour free messaging window, making it the cheapest paid entry point in India.
- WhatsApp FlowsProduct
- Native multi-screen forms inside the chat for booking, KYC, surveys and checkout — no redirect to a browser.
- Volume tiersBilling
- Discounts of roughly 6% to 30% that apply as monthly delivered volume per market crosses Meta’s thresholds. Authentication discounts begin at 750,000 messages a month; utility stays at the ₹0.1150 list rate up to 25 million. Marketing is excluded entirely, and tiers reset each month.
- Max-price marketingBilling
- Meta’s 2026 option to cap what you pay per delivered marketing message; you are charged the lower of your cap and the market rate.
- Quality ratingDeliverability
- Meta’s per-number score from blocks and reports. A low rating cuts your messaging limit and can suspend the number.
- BSPPlatform
- Business Solution Provider. You cannot reach the WhatsApp Business API directly — a BSP or a platform wrapping one provides access.
- DPDP Act 2023Compliance
- India’s data protection law: demonstrable consent for marketing, purpose limitation and honouring erasure requests.
- DMARC / BIMIEmail
- DMARC tells inbox providers how to treat unauthenticated mail; BIMI shows your verified logo once DMARC is at enforcement.
- Suppression listEmail
- Addresses never to send to again — hard bounces, complaints, unsubscribes. sendlz shares one list across email and WhatsApp.
